Valentine's Day Rewind

Happy (Belated) Valentine's Day!

My husband refuses to celebrate Valentine's Day. Sad, but true. However, the first year we were dating he did actually celebrate it...and he gave one of my favorite gifts ever. He ordered a star shaped cake pan and baked me a chocolate cake. I LOVE stars, so it was perfect.

We usually had practice on Valentine's Day night, so we celebrated by wearing pink and red...and throwing out kisses. I also believe that I started practice wearing knee-high heart socks, but they must have gotten a little warm to wear running around the courts. :)

4th Grade Love
Valentine's Day in 4th grade is wonderful. I love the day. Candy is flying. Cards with cheezy sayings are being passed around. The kids are dressed in a sea of red and pink. It's just great. And isn't this just the cutest gift ever?
(Good thing I took a picture of it though since they are all almost gone already!)

Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! We had some friends over for dinner and games and had a fun Valentine's Day (or for my husband- a fun dinner on Feb. 14th- ha!).

You Sank My Line Segment!

Last night, our school had "Math Night." It was fine. I wish I could say it was awesome, but in all honesty, I really didn't feel like spending my Tuesday night at school. However, since I had no choice- it was great once I got there.

I love dressing up. We're having a book character dress up day at school in April and I'm already planning what I'm going to wear. (any suggestions?) This year, we all wore lab coats to look more like mathematicians. But, I was wishing that I had been more into the night at the beginning so I had time to make awesome Ms. Frizzle earings. Next time, next time.

In my room, I had set up a game of Battleship Coordinates which is similar to well, Battleship. (You had to say, "You Sank My Line Segment!" if you sunk their ship- hence the blog title.) It got me thinking of all my favorite games growing up. Battleship was not one of them. I loved Life, the Babysitter Club game (oh come on- you owned this game too!), Uno, Sorry and Hungry, Hungry Hippos. That's one of the reasons I love being a teacher- it brings back all those memories of growing up. Especially the good ones like playing games. Any childhood favorite games to share?

Goodbye Weekend- I'll Miss You

It has been quite an eventful weekend- starting on Thursday night. On Thursday, I went to the Rascal Flatts concert with some of my girlfriends. We met up and ate some quick dinner to ensure that we could make it in time for Jessica Simpson's opening act.

Oh, Jessica's opening act. I am a Jessica Simpson fan. I think she has a good voice. But, really her performance was just an emotional mess. I do feel bad for her. We sat there the whole time thinking- "what is going on!?" I hope things turn around for her soon. Here are the articles that my friend sent me the next morning:

Rascal Flatts however, was A-MAZING! I love them and just think that they are wonderful performers- we had a great time.

Getting up for school was not such a good time the next day, but I made it through the day and then was ready to leave for a weekend of skiing up north. I haven't been skiing in about 5 years, so I was a bit worried about making it down the hill, but all was well and we had a fun weekend on the slopes.

I can't believe the weekend is already over! I caught a cold that has been going around my classroom all week. Boo.
